Antimicrobial Yoga Bolster

Yogi Entrepreneur, Liz Glover Wilson, Founder of Stone Wave Yoga and Stone Wave The Quartz Collection is thrilled to offer this innovative NEW product.

The idea of antimicrobial yoga props came to Liz in 2020, when she was in her studio storing away props and realized how easily germs can spread with permeable cloth materials.

As she began to gather up her beautiful cloth bolsters to put them into storage, it was in that moment she had a further realization that cloth bolsters were something she should have never been offering her students.

In general, cloth bolsters are simply not a sanitized way of offering a prop in class. Cloth covered bolsters are challenging to clean and due to the permeability of the material you’re still breathing in old germs left behind on the inner material.

She began to shift her focus to do better for her community. That’s when The idea of The Quartz Collection Antimicrobial Bolster was born. Liz started researching alternative materials to cotton that were vegan, sustainable, impermeable, and easy to clean. She eventually found a vinyl material that is beautiful, soft, eco-friendly, and durable.

From there Liz began the journey of finding the right seamstress. It was important to her that they were in the United States, so she could support other small business owners. For the first collaboration, Liz met Rocio, who has her own upholstery shop nearby. Not only is Rocio local, she is a female business owner and like Liz, of Latin descent. What a great first collaboration!

While we understand that these bolsters are an investment, unlike cotton bolsters, The Quartz Collection Bolster doesn’t fall apart after just a few years. The material we use has been tested at our own studios and are abrasion and mildew resistant, lasting up to 100,000 uses without wear and tear.

What’s more, each bolster contains a hand picked Quartz crystal from the Shawangunk Mountains of the Hudson Valley in New York to add purity by eradicating any traces of toxins that might be lingering in the product.
